My Favorite Biking Routes

View My Favorite Fremont Bike Routes in a larger map

Just a few of the bike routes I like to go by in Southern Fremont. If Google Maps tries to give you times, multiple it by...roughly 5-10 times to get the actual times. :]

  • Warm Springs Spur (~2.3 Miles One Way) - This route is for the people who want to travel through this 1/2 mile by 2 mile rectangle without setting foot on Warm Springs Blvd. Before the new trail following the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct is completed, it is highly possible to make that 2 mile trip nearly 4 or more miles (I know I did ;)) If you follow the winding turns while sticking closer to the foothills, you can traverse the neighborhood with less traffic and less headaches. Plus you pass by Booster Park. Yay!

  • Pacific Commons Loop (~10.8 Miles) - Need to drop by Costco midway to grab some cheap food? Or maybe just Starbucks/Yoswirl whatevers? You can get (virtually) bayside views along Fremont Blvd. / Cushing Pkwy. Great for the I love eating or I love shopping while getting exercise! :) Note: The hill on Paseo Padre Pkwy at I-680 is difficult to climb when heading north. Recommended to travel "clockwise." Also, the map doesn't have the new overpass for Warren over I-880 yet, so you won't have to bike on the offramp.

  • Irvington Loop (~7.5 Miles) - This route is best on Sunday mornings so you can go grab fresh vegetables, fruit, and popcorn at the Farmers Market near the Five Corners (Bay at Washington at Fremont at Union). Note: The hills on Paseo Padre Pkwy between Durham Rd and Washington Blvd. is much more difficult to climb northbound. Recommended to travel "clockwise."

  • Central Park Loop (~10.4 Miles) - This is a nice and relaxing loop, rewarded by a refreshing view of Lake Elizabeth at the other end. Now that the Waterpark there is open as well (but it's closed for the season as of this post), you may as well ditch the car keys and have a bit of fun. :)

  • Mill Creek (~4 Miles One Way) - This one-lane road is often a beautiful ride alongside Mill Creek (no wonder they called it Mill Creek Road!) with abundant shade and peacefulness. Other than the occasional car, Mill Creek is definitely a better way to climb Mission Peak, not only since it's prettier, but also because it's more shady. (It's paved too.) If you'd like to loop down to Ohlone College, there is a trailhead roughly three miles in at a U-Turn like switchback that takes you down.

  • So yeah - one day I would love to go on the 40 Mile Ride "Calavaras Loop" between Fremont - Sunol - Milpitas. Maybe next summer. :)

Meanwhile I continue to be pummeled by homework.

    Snaps - they've invented the bullet-spam-essay.
